“Don’t let your mind get in the way of a good time…” the words of Jason Mraz during his set on Saturday afternoon at Golden Gate Park in San Francisco. Tens of thousands of people scatted back and forth with him, danced to his uplifting music and rejoiced in mind, body and spirit during the set. Mraz showed off an incredible vocal range from Barry White low to opera soprano – that’s right, that was actually Jason Mraz singing opera on “Mr. Curiosity.” The horn section mixed with the warm weather and got things awfully sultry on Mraz’s rump shaking closer “Butterfly.” Artworks Magazine was blessed to spend some time with Mraz backstage at the Outside Lands Festival for an incredible photo shoot on the VIP balcony. Look for our feature article on Mraz in the upcoming issue which is set to hit newsstands on Sept. 14th. (Check out more from an incredible three days of music featuring Dave Matthews, Pearl Jam, Black Eyed Peas and more…) All photography by Harper Smith.
