I felt the power of his work even though I didn't know why I was a sculptor then. His work was an influence on my early sculpture in plaster and welded metal. Manuel's work continues to attract and fascinate me though I have worked in many media and am now writing and preparing to write a novel based on the S.F. artists of the 1950's.
